She is an inventor. She thinks of things that can help others, then writes it down, then actually MAKES it.
Wow!
One of her many inventions are stickers called Count on It that help you remember when you put your food in the refrigerator so that you won't throw so much of it away.
Mami is always sniffing around and asking papi "do you know how long this has been in here?" or "do you think its still good to eat?"
Usually she sniffs at it for a while, then pokes at it, and does a little taste.
Most of the time, she will say "I just don't know" and it goes into the trash. She doesn't like doing it, but she would rather be safe than sorry.
Since Lyndsey sent mami her Count on It stickers we have thrown less food away.
Its so simple! You just put a sticker on the food container, and scratch off the date you put it in.
Easy.
What do you think, neat huh?
So join us in making an effort to waste less food this year.

These are fabulous! Just what we need! I have retweeted the competition.
ReplyDeleteWe try to waste less by buying only the things we need for the week. We make a shopping list before we go to the shop, and plan our weekly meals, so we know exactly what to get - that way, we don't waste much at all! Although I could do with these stickers for things like pesto x
Oh, and I tweeted from @metalmummy84 x
ReplyDeletewhat a good idea. I portion up my fresh meat before using now to waste less.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent invention, dear Little M, certainly worth trying. Many thanks for suggesting it. Feliz año nuevo! Ciao. A.
ReplyDeleteyes, these are great. Really helps us out. Thanks for entering and coming by the blog :)
ReplyDeleteArgh! I'm sure I left a comment, maybe it's still in moderation land?
ReplyDeleteI hate wasting food and am normally quite good at keeping on top of the dates. I do tend to make pasties with leftover food which get frozen before cooking so the contents are only reheated a maximum of two times. I also use www.lovefoodhatewaste.com which is a marvellous website.

Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI use all of the veg that looks a bit past it's bedtime to make a soup. Less waste plus it's helps get some of their five a day into my guys!
You've got a typo in Lyndsey's twitter id, should be mummypreneur I think :)
ReplyDeleteI often make extra food as it's difficult to tell who will eat what, but I reuse leftovers the next night. So if we have mash and veg one night, we'll get bubble and squeak fried up the next :)
Will RT as liveotherwise for extra entry.
Happy New Year Xx
ReplyDeleteI try to plan meals and try to use up leftovers the next day for lunch.
ReplyDeleteI try too let my fridge get quite empty before i fill it again so that things dont get forgotten about and wasted. :)

Hi I have also retweeted this post (Jenni000)
ReplyDeleteI freeze pretty much everything. I freeze bread and take it out sliced by slice, as I never finish a loaf before it goes stale for example
Thank you Little M for featuring my Count On It labels and thank to all your readers for the lovely comments. You've all added some fabulously simple, but effective ways to get the most out of your food, I love it. Good luck to all entrants, when Little M picks the winners, I'll be sure to get the Count On It labels over to you as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Lyndsey - the Queen of Easy Green
